Rock-It-Ball has been accepted with enthusiasm wherever it has been played. Feedback from Rock-Iteers and deliverers tells us that Rock-It-Ball is :

Flexible
It can be used for a whole range of sports – Combat Rock-It, Combat Rock-It-Xtreme, Team Rock-It, Field-Rock-It, Target Rock-It . Users can make up their own – Tennis Rock-It, Squash-Rock-it, Volley-Rock-It …

Good value

I
t can be used all year round, in all weathers. If it’s bad weather play an indoor version. And for all the different versions you still use the same Rock-It so you are using one piece of equipment for a whole range of sports (no matter what the weather). If the weather is good play Field-Rock-It. If the weather is bad play an indoor version - all using the same piece of equipment (now there is value for money!!)

Robust

Developed through a detailed design process and tested thoroughly, the materials mix was carefully selected to be robust and long lasting. It should outlast most other pieces of sports equipment in a school, despite the abuse sports equipment suffers from pupils.

Versatile
Rock-it-Ball can be used in all sorts of scenarios: skill building (schools), team building (corporate events), fitness regimes (fitness and leisure centres), relaxation (on the beach and in the park)
Inclusive – because the player doesn’t have to bend to pick up a ball, the game can be played by wheelchair users. In the combat form it also means that pupils who wouldn’t normally get involved, find that they have to - all PE teachers know that there are some youngsters that don't get involved. They hang about on the wing or talk to the corner flag. If they don't get involved in Combat Rock-it they become a target

Fast
In the combat version users get an exhausting work out. However, it is versatile enough to be played at different paces in different formats and so can be included in any sort of fitness regime.

Popular: Increases Participation
Wherever we have played or demonstrated, in schools, parks and leisure centres, children have crowded round, desperate to play. This makes it ideal for those schools who have difficulty getting youngsters involved in established sport – it gives them another avenue which really appeals to the students. It’s different. It also means that they are all starting from the same level. Recent research commissioned by the DES shows that in a typical week only 25% of pupils will be involved in ‘intra-school- competitive activities and that fewer schools offered team sports such as netball, hockey, rounders and volleyball than in 2004. Rock-it-Ball can combat this, in that it can help drive participation.

Structured
It allows the development of structured exercises for skill development and is excellent for hand/eye co-ordination and spatial development – front/back and lateral movement.

Encouraging
Rock-it-ball gives a real feeling of achievement. Although it is not something which is picked up immediately, ie it has to be worked at, it is something in which players can develop skills. The skills can be built up in a very structured way allowing users of all abilities to feel a degree of success. We have had players who have initially not wanted to play because they have been told they ‘are no use at sport’, however after a short while they find they can rock the ball from one end to the other and we see a real glow of achievement on their faces.

Suitable for all ages

When demonstrating Rock-it-Ball we have youngsters of all ages wanting to play. We have had a little 7 year old on a team facing a tall 15 year old - and she wasn't put off at all. We have played with children aged 4-84!

Safe
We also have the Prison Service taking an interest. They explained that they felt it would give 'controlled release of aggression in a safe environment'. On a similar note, we also have interest from a schools sports consultant who deals with 700 schools around the country. When we first showed him the Rock-it, he had just come back from a day at a school in Trafford working with disaffected youngsters. His feeling was that Rock-it-Ball would be a superb tool in this situation because (a) of the release of aggression and (b) the robustness of the equipment.
